Laraine Holt passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026 at Grandview Hospital, Hoover, AL. She was born in New York and was a Bayonne resident prior to relocating to Alabama in 2025.
A selfless stay at home mom, Laraine devoted her life to her family and her Christian ministry. She co-founded an Episcopal fellowship while living in Florida, and visited, attended to and was a Eucharistic Minister for the sick when she lived in the New York City area, tirelessly advocating for the overlooked and abandoned, many of whom were battling AIDS and other terminal illnesses.
In 2008, she was baptized into the Catholic church and was committed to supporting the Knights of the Holy Eucharist.
She and her husband, David, passed away eight days apart; and she is survived by her loving son, Daniel Holt.
Prior to her passing Laraine shared several thoughts about her life and what her hope was for eternal life.
Free at last. Thank God Almighty I’m free at last. By the grace of God I hope and pray I have passed from this life into His eternal presence. I also pray that family, friends and all the community of the Church will join me in this prayer and continue to pray for me and all the departed souls that we may rest in eternal peace.
Let it be known that from the bottom of my heart and the depths of my soul, I forgive anyone who has injured or hurt me seriously or unconsciously, intentionally or unintentionally over the course of my life journey. I ask anyone that I have injured or hurt, please forgive me.
Thanks be to God my life has been blessed by the greatest gift of my son, Daniel. His kindness, love, care and compassion helped me through the most difficult hours of life. Please pray for me, Daniel.
Thank you Lord for your Holy Priests, who have given me enormous guidance and care especially, Fr. Miguel Marie Soeherman, MFVA, Fr. James Bucaria, Fr. John Fallon, Fr. Zenon Boczek, SDS. God willing, may we all meet again in His Heavenly Kingdom.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Blessed Miriam Teresa Parish at St. Mary, Star of the Sea Church at 10:00 a.m. Laraine’s ashes will be inurned at Holy Name Cemetery following the Mass.
